10-Day Umrah: A Practical Day-by-Day Itinerary

This is why we offer a concise and feasible 10-day Umrah itinerary for pilgrims in the UK, which you can rely on, create, and expand to your family or a group.

Day 1 – Departure (UK → Jeddah → Makkah)

• Departure from UK airport (London, Manchester, Birmingham, etc.).
• Enter Ihram before Miqat (crew normally announces this) on the plane.
• Make Intention (niyyah) to visit Makkah.
• Arrive at Jeddah airport.
• Full immigration and baggage pickup (this can be time-consuming).
• Coach or taxi transfer to Makkah (1-2 hours) by your travel agency.
• Check into the hotel.
• Take a shower and get ready for Umrah if you are energetic.

Tip: It is okay to do Umrah in the early morning the next day, in case you are late and are extremely tired.

Day 2 – Perform Umrah

• Get up early to Fajr in Masjid al-Haram.
• Perform Umrah:
  1. Tawaf (7 rounds around the Kaaba)
  2. Pray 2 rak'ahs (as close to Maqam Ibrahim as you can)
  3. Sa'i between Safa and Marwa
  4. Hair cut/trim
• After Umrah, you leave Ihram.
• Rest at the hotel.
• Return for Maghrib and Isha prayers.
• Spend time in dua and Qur'an.

Tip: Have the Umrah dua printed or saved in your phone or notebook in order not to forget it.

Day 3 – Makkah Ziyarat & Worship

• Fajr prayer in Haram.
• Voluntary Tawaf (after Fajr).
• Breakfast at the hotel.
• Group visit (if arranged) to:
  • Jabal al-Noor (Hira Cave)
  • Jabal al-Thawr
  • Mina, Arafat, Muzdalifah (viewpoints)

Day 5 – Travel to Madinah

  • Haramain High-Speed Train (2.5 hours), or
  • Coach (5–6 hours)
• Arrive in Madinah.
• Stay in a hotel (usually close to Masjid Nabawi).
• Pray in Masjid Nabawi.
• Visit the Prophet's (SAW) mosque courtyard.
• Light worship in the evening.

Tip: Have your train ticket and ID readily available.

Day 6 – Rawdah & Masjid Nabawi

• Fajr prayer in the mosque.
• Go to the Rawdah (when you book it on the Nusuk app.)
• Send salam to the Prophet (SAW)
• Pray in various sections of the mosque
• Rest after Dhuhr.
• Maghrib and Isha in the mosque.

Tip: Rawdah slots are limited. Book early through Nusuk.

Day 7 – Madinah Ziyarat

• Morning group ziyarat:
  • Masjid Quba
  • Masjid Qiblatain
  • Uhud Mountain
  • Shuhada Cemetery
• Return to the hotel.
• Rest and lunch.
• Evening prayers.
• Personal reflection and dua.

Tip: Pray two rak'ahs in Masjid Quba. It has a special reward.

Day 8 – Final Day in Madinah

• Fajr in Masjid Nabawi.
• Pay a final visit to the mosque of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW)

• Shopping for:
  • Dates

Day 9 – Travel to Airport

  • Jeddah Airport (if flying from there)
• With a route of Jeddah, there are groups that make a stop at Makkah.
• Perform Tawaf al-Wida (Farewell Tawaf) if you are in Makkah.
• Check in for the flight.
• Overnight flight usually.

Day 10 – Arrive in the UK

• Land in the UK.
• Clear immigration.
• Return home.
• Rest.
• Have daily prayers and a routine.

Essential Requirements, Restrictions, and Policies for Performing Umrah

The government of Saudi Arabia and the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah have special restrictions, rules, and regulations that all pilgrims must respect and follow. They are established to guarantee pilgrims' safety and complete adherence to the Kingdom's religious and travel requirements.

Valid Passport

You should possess at least 6 months valid passport on the date of travel. And also make sure that everything on your passport is accurate, and ideally matches the information on your Umrah application.

Umrah Visa Requirements

Before travelling, you have to get an Umrah visa or a valid Saudi eVisa. Requirements include:

• A photograph (white background). This is the size of a passport.
• Filled visa application form.
• Evidence of a hotel reservation and the return flight.
• Travel insurance

Note: Tourist visa is now accepted for Umrah (except the Hajj season).

Age Restrictions

The child should be accompanied by an adult; no particular age limits are set except for children below 18. In addition, pilgrims of old age need to receive a full medical examination to have a hassle-free trip.

Vaccination Requirements

The safety of pilgrims also demands a number of vaccines from the Saudi government. Meningitis (ACWY) is a mandatory requirement, which is valid for a period of three to five years.
